The hardest part of an artist's life often isn't the work — it's figuring out how to begin without a safety net. This residency takes that weight off, so aspiring artists can pour themselves into their craft, with housing, meals, materials, and a community already covered.
The residency is a six-month scholarship for aspiring artists who are graduating from high school or earning their GED — a moment in life when a little encouragement and opportunity can change everything. Each partner church hosts placements scaled to its own size and capacity.
Those six months give an artist the time, space, and community to take their first real creative steps — without rent or a second job pulling them away from the work they're meant to make. And six months is only the beginning: a residency can grow with an artist to a full year, or even two — enough of a head start to truly build a creative life on.
And it works in both directions. It opens the doors of a church to people who might never otherwise walk in, and it gives young artists a reason to stay rooted in the neighborhoods and multi-generational families that raised them.
Move in and take your first real creative steps, fully supported.
Keep building, with deeper roots in your community.
A genuine head start — enough to stand on your own.
A residency here isn't just studio time. It's a way of being together — shaped by the values at the heart of everything we do.
Belonging is the only requirement. You're welcomed exactly as you are, and there's always a seat at the table.
The time, space, and tools to make the work only you can make — and the freedom to follow where it leads.
Room to slow down and listen, letting the quiet of a sacred space shape what you create.
You won't create alone. A whole community shows up to tend the work — and you — along the way.
We're keeping it simple. Here's the shape of a residency from first contact to your first day.
Tell us a little about you and the work you want to make. No portfolio or polish required — just reach out.
We connect you with a partner sacred space and a community ready to host and support you.
Settle in and make. Housing, meals, and materials are covered so you can focus on the work.
Applications are opening soon. Express your interest now and we'll be in touch as placements become available.
Whether you're an aspiring artist or someone who wants to help one stay home, there's a place for you in this work.
